Friday morning Brandon took Scarlett to the doctor ( Davey was still recovering from being sick and I had a bad cold, so Daddy stepped in :) ) because she had a cough and high fever along with heavy breathing. That afternoon (4pm) we took her to Valley Children's ER because of her labored breathing and high heart rate were not stopping after a prescribed breathing treatment.
She got in right away and was given O2, x-rays and more extensive breathing treatments. Around 12:30am the doctor decided to admit her into the hospital because her O2 levels were too low. By then with test results coming in we knew she had pneumonia. We did not get in to the hospital until about 6am. So after spending the night (13 hours) awake sitting in the most uncomfortable chairs ever made, basically waiting to get admitted we were beyond exhausted, and still very concerned. Scarlett was so pitiful looking with all her tubes and the oxygen mask around her mouth and nose.
The hardest part was probably when they inserted the IV. She fought it so hard, and cried our names and looked at us for help and all we could do was rub her head and tell her it's okay, it's almost done. I had to look away for just one moment as I gained composure to not cry. Because if we as parents cannot be brave for them then how in the world can they our children be brave? Scarlett is a fighter and not only did she fight the IV, she fought everything which made every procedure very hard on her...and us, to make her do it.
At night was when she was checked on the most, and when we were always up making sure her O2 mask did not fall off or pulled off. When she was sleeping her O2 levels dropped the most. So basically all weekend we did not sleep. So today we are trying to catch up on rest and relaxing and for Scarlett just getting better again. We are so thankful that her O2 levels raised enough for her to be released and continue her healing at home. We hope to never return to that hospital. As great as the Children's Hospital is, we do not want to ever go back.

My heart was just so broken for you two parents having to helplessly watch poor, little Scarlett go through something she didn't understand. Then to be sleep deprived, and not feel well yourselves was just salt in the wound, but you all pulled through with such amazing bravery. I'm so glad this is behind you now, and Scarlett is on the mend! She's a tough one. We did a lot of praying for you all. All I could think to do was to gather as much prayer support as I could find. God is good. And you are amazing parents.
